IF ALLEGHENY POWER WON’T GIVE UP, WHY SHOULD WE?
Allegheny Power wants to raise your electric bill by almost 27%!
Electric costs for businesses will also increase by almost 27% if Allegheny prevails!
Throughout the summer, Allegheny Power has tried repeatedly to raise your electric bill.
Thanks to you and your neighbors’ efforts, the State Corporation Commission rejected the
company’s arguments in June. Later, Allegheny tried and failed to get the Virginia
Supreme Court to order an immediate rate increase! Allegheny will continue to use the courts to
try to raise your electric rates-a hearing is scheduled later.
Now, Allegheny is trying again. This time the
company has filed a new application with the State Corporation Commission. If the company
succeeds, your electric bill will increase by almost 27%.
Please join employers and homeowners in opposing Allegheny’s effort to dramatically
increase the rates we pay for electricity. Public comments must be filed by November
16, so please act now.
Just complete the form to your right and let your voice be heard by the State Corporation
Commission. This is the body that will decide whether Allegheny’s almost $45 million rate
request is fair and reasonable. Public comments must be received by November 16, 2007,
so don’t delay!
When you submit the form to the right, you are authorizing us to add your voice to the
families and businesses opposing Allegheny’s rate request. Your information will be sent
to the SCC. You can expect a reply from the SCC after we have contacted them on your
behalf. Please be sure to provide all the information requested or the form will
not be submitted.
A public hearing on this high rate request is scheduled for later this year, so please
act by November 16.

Help Your Neighbors Oppose Allegheny Power’s Almost $45 Million Rate Increase!
Speak Up by November 16th!
Use the form below to send your message opposing the Allegheny
rate increase. You must act by November 16, 2007, to make sure your voice
is heard.
Your message to the SCC will read as follows:
I, the undersigned, respectfully request a fair and sound decision regarding case PUE-2007-00085, the Allegheny Power rate request. While I recognize the need for reasonable rate adjustments periodically, Allegheny's application for a 27% increase in my electric bill will pose a hardship for my family, our neighbors, and the businesses of the Northern Shenandoah Valley. Therefore, I strongly urge you to hold Allegheny to the Agreement they entered into with the Commission in 2000. I look forward to your prompt and fair decision following the December 4, 2007 public hearing.
All fields are required for your opposition to be counted by the Virginia SCC.
